Numb3rs is one series that I just don’t think of missing. The series is so interesting and different and I just love the way they used mathematics in the series. I never thought that a subject like mathematics could be used to solve crime and that also in such a broad way. It’s just their, this application of mathematics and this unique way of solving crime that doesn’t let me miss even a single episode.

Anyways, some how I was not able to see the last three episodes of the series so, today when I got time I downloaded the three episodes that I missed and watched them at a go. After watching the episodes I thought that I should write about how I found those episodes. So, here I am with my opinion of the episodes. Firstly, the episodes that I missed out on were Scan Man, Magic Show and Charlie Don’t Surf. Well, out of the three episodes, the episode that I liked the most was Scan Man, for a simple reason, that the episode had both the elements of suspense and emotions. In the other two episodes I found that missing. In this episode, the team had to fight a bad man in the shipping business. While they are working on the case one of member of the team gets killed. Don feels really bad regarding the same and starts questioning his ability of being the leader of the team. It is this part that I liked the most, when Don comes out of his flux. In the other two episodes, they fight crime and find murderer of their friend, while the murder was thought to be an accident. I just love the way these guys solve their cases.

Well, as you all must be aware of the fact that the soon the series will finish its fifth season. All I am worried about is will the channel renew the series with another season. I don’t have to tell you how popular the series is. Its popularity is well understood with the fact that the series has entered its fifth season. And, that it still has the same amount of fan following and in fact the number of the fans is still increasing. ‘Numb3rs’ is a crime adventure series, which revolves around two brothers, one a FBI agent and the other a mathematical genius. The two together with the help of each other fight against increasing crime in the city.

Now, that the series has entered its fifth season, it still runs with same amount of suspense and adventure. The series makes its viewers bite their nails during its one hour long run. The first episode of the fifth season was a breathtaking episode. The episode was wonderful as a comeback episode and suited best for the opening of the season. In this episode Don gets a new team to work with. While he is working hard with his new team members, Charlie on the other hand, must deal with the fall out of losing his clearance. The second and the third episode were equally good too. They start their regular chasing from this episode onwards. Don and his team had to fight a group of kidnappers, who have made innocent people their victims and are after their money. The whole thing gets more serious when one of the victims gets killed. In the next episode too, the two brothers get together to solve a case in which eight people are killed at a coffee shop.

Well, the first three episodes of the season were very interesting and if they keep making episodes like this, I am sure they have a long way to cover and many more seasons to make. I hope they keep entertaining us with good and sensible episodes and, that they come up with lots of more seasons.

Hurrah! Mathematics, I mean, Numb3rs is back with season 5.

CBS series Numb3rs season 5 will be premiered on October 3, 2008 as per the latest official announcement. Network has recently renewed the series along with some other CBS hits CSI trio, Cold Case and Without a Trace. Well, fans who’re crazy to watch new episodes may now have a sigh of relief…. Because there’re some rumors about series’ cancellation also! But finally, we’ve got it back…

What’s coming up? I don’t have too many details but still I’ve some details to share with you buddies. Season opener will be entitled ‘High Exposure’ and the episode is set to air on October 3. On this episode, a new member will be introduced to Don’s team meanwhile Charlie debates getting his FBI Clearance restored. Some more episodes this season are:

‘Decoy Effect’ set to air on October 10, 2008.

‘Lost Causes’ will be aired on October 24, 2008.

Next is ‘Jack of All Trades’ which will hit your TV sets on October 31, 2008.

Then is ‘Scan Man’, which will be aired on November 07, 08.

Well, honestly I’m not very good in maths but have a strong grip over English right from my childhood. It may be paternal as my dad is also weak in mathematics but mama is very good with numbers. All mathematical problems will get solved in mama’s diary. As my mama loves maths so she too loves Numb3rs. It’s her favorite show and she always insists me to watch this series.

I don’t watch it regularly like my mom does, but whenever I do watch any episode; Charlie Eppes’s intelligence attracts me a lot. How brilliant he is and how mathematically he solves the mysteries. Each episode includes various mathematicians who work as consultants to solve the enigmas. All mathematical equations presented on show are valid and their validity has been affirmed by the professional mathematicians.

Maths to solve crime and mysteries…. It’s great! I think it’s the only such series in TV history, which has such kinda unique plot! You may have seen crime on innumerous shows, but ways to solve crime on Numb3rs, are completely distinct. Charles Eppes, a brilliant Universalist mathematician uses the tough mathematic equations to solve critical crime scenes and to find out who the criminal is. Another good thing about series is – the concept of brotherhood. FBI agent Don Eppes and mathematical genius Charlie Eppes- both love each other and are ready to help in tough situations.

Currently, series is returning with season 5 and is set to be premiered on October 3 2008. What’re your expectations from this upcoming season … Well, I think there’ll be more of mathematics and my mama will become more genius by learning how to use mathematical equations to solve crime…. LOL

I’ve also decided to watch all upcoming episodes and previous episodes from series. I think it may help me to sharpen my mathematical skills and I can also be a mathematical genius…. Wow! Sounds interesting!!!

Numb3rs basically revolves around three groups of characters: the FBI, the mathematician at the CalSci and the Eppes family. All three join together to fight against the world of crime. Characters in the main lead are:

• Professor Lary Fleinhardt a physicist and cosmologist, played by Peter Macnicol.
• Alan Eppes, farther of Charlie and Don Eppes, played by Judd Hirsch.
• Amita Ramanujan ,a mathematician played by Navi Rawat.

• Megan Reeves, a behavioral specialist, played by Diane Farr.
• David Sinclair an FBI agent, played by Alimi Ballard.
• Colby Granger an FBI agent, played by Dylan Bruno.

Did you know that all the temporary characters on the show were named after one or the other famous mathematicians.

Season 1 was supposed to have more than 13 episodes. So you have the half season.

Sabrina Lloyd played Terry Lake, an agent in this season; she was later replaced by Diane Farr, who played Megan Reeves.

Remember a special assignment to the department of justice, for Dianne Farr, in season 3; she was actually on a maternity leave.

Season 4 first ended with 12 episodes, 6 episodes of the show were telecasted later on… the reason behind- the writer of the show was on a strike.

Peter Macnoil had left the show, but returned to numbers for the 21^st episode of season 3 and his absence was explained as being a payload specialist on the international play station.

Though the series have been quite a famous one and loved too…. but somehow the last season (season 4) was not that well received. All I mean to say is that it was not as well received as its first three seasons. The popularity of the show can also be estimated from the fact that a number of books were published to explain its followers some of the mathematical techniques which were used both by FBI and law enforcement departments in actual. Books like “We all use math’s everyday” and “Numbers behind numb3rs: solving crime with mathematics” were published and well received.

Now that the show has completed its four seasons, the next season ie, the 5^th season which is supposed to be aired somewhere around September 2008, I hope that it makes a rocking comeback and is received and praised as its first three seasons were. Well for now all we can do is to wait for the next season and hope that it just amazes us even more with math’s unique ability of solving our everyday problems. This is not what we are talking about here….. Well I mean we are talking of numbers but then in an all together different role. Watch Numb3rs will help to fight crime, here, in this case. Yes, this is an American television show.

This series deals with FBI’s agent Don Eppes solving his mysteries and fighting crimes in a totally unique way with the help of his mathematical genius brother Charlie Eppes. Ever heard numbers helping in solving crime for the FBI huh… sounds interesting.

If you by now have mistaken me that this is just another cop fiction then let me correct myself it has several other elements too… yes, this story also deals in the relationships of father and son, and of brothers on the main front. The kind of emotional support they provide each other which helps them in their professional lives.

Numb3rs could not have been presented in a more interesting way. All those who have hated math’s started loving it and all those who loved it fell in love all over again. The series was the most popular show airing on Friday evenings throughout its first three seasons and it has been renewed for its fifth season.
